As the Africa Youths Games continues in far away Angola, 3 young athletes of Nigeria Taekwondo Federation will jet out of the shore of Nigeria tomorrow in order to add to the good performance start which team Nigeria had put up from day 1.
The trio of Solomon Alegu -59kg male
Andrew Miracle -59kg female and Ogidan Fatima -55kg female had been under intense training for almost a month with the federation coaches and has been carefully selected.
Speaking to Nigeria Taekwondo Federation media, -59kg Solomon Alegu declared that he is battle ready and will not let the country down when he gets on the mat at the games.
”I must say it has not been easy in camp so far because our coaches have been very strict with us giving us the best of training and ensuring that we remain focused for the battle ahead of the
games”.
”It’s a rare privilege for me to have been selected by the coaches and I promise to ensure that I finish on the podium to repay the belief repose on me”.
Coach Anthony Chukwuemeka Mohammed who will lead the team to the Youth Games heaped praise to the federation and the National Sports Commission for ensuring that the camp went smoothly and he believes that all the three athletes will not come back empty handed from the games.
”I must sincerely commend the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation and the National Sports Commission for giving us a proper camping time with these athletes to train together as a team and it was almost giving us the coaches sleepless nights on how to draw the final selection”.
”We have impacted all what they need to know in them and I am optimistic that none of the trio will come back from Angola without a medal with the training and the believe in God”.
